All tests taken today have been returned.

Today was the cut-off date for test 2. Please do not lose track of the fact that whenever you are behind the cut-off date that means you are currently progressing at a rate that will result in failing the class.

Also remember that in order to take a test that is passed the cut-off date you require permission. To get permission you need to work with a peer tutor on practice problems available in class. The tutor has to sign the sheet testifying to your readiness and you need to bring it to me.  You may arrange to take tests that have passed the cut-off date with Christian, but to do so you still need to go through this process in class. If you fail a test after being approved to retake it, then you need to recertify by the above process with a different tutor.

On Wednesday my office hours will be from 8:45-10:45 rather than the usual 9-11.
All tests taken today have been returned.

The cut-off date for Module 2 is Wednesday.

All tests taken yesterday were returned yesterday afternoon. (Sorry, I got busy and forgot to make this announcement then.)

Please read previous post from today.

I am unable to hold my usual office hours on Wednesday, but I will hold them from 2:45-4:25.
All tests taken today have been returned.

And a little tough love for those who are struggling. It is important to understand and accept that this is simply not a class in which you will eventually receive a passing grade just because you keep trying. (I know that you have probably had gobs of classes like this, but this just is not one of them.) You receive a passing grade if and only if you demonstrate total comprehension of the material. The resources for you to do this are supplied in abundance, but you must buy into the system and use those resources, or things will go badly.

Many of the questions I receive in class are demonstrating only a very limited engagement with the online materials. The desire for a shortcut is understandable and I will never give you grief for this in class.  But there simply are no shortcuts. If you do not engage the material fully, you simply will not progress in this course. But the good news is that if you do, you almost certainly will! For many of you, the best thing about this course is not so much the material you learn, but the study habits you will develop in learning it.

All tests taken today have been returned.

We are now past the cut-off date to take test 1. This means that you require permission from me to take the test. You gain permission by demonstrating competency to me or a peer tutor or Christian Green, our outside class tutor.

Please read post below regarding outside of class tutoring.

Monday, February 6, 2017

All tests taken today have been returned.

Please note that the cut-off date for test 1 is Wednesday.  This means that this is the last day to take test 1 without explicit permission from the instructor.  Being behind the cut-off date means that at your current rate of progress you will fail the course.

Please see previous post, which is also from today.

This is to let you know that the tutoring link on the main webpage is now active. If you wish to receive tutoring outside of class, please make an arrangement according to the instructions presented there.
All tests taken today have been returned. If you took one and you did not receive it through your Google drive, then you probably gave me a bad email. Please get in touch with me to get it figured out. Remember, I need a gmail or a different email that you have registered with Google.

Remember, if you passed the test, there will be a very clear ☺on it. If you did not pass it, you will find at least one problem marked wrong.

It is perfectly ok to work on new module quizzes or other material whether you have passed the test or not, but you may not take a test before you have passed the previous and as well as the corresponding module quiz.
